From identifying hazards to embracing developmental benefits, participants will gain confidence in providing enriching outdoor adventures. WHO SHOULD ATTEND?
This course is ideal for anyone who facilitates nature-based education and outdoor learning with young children, which may include: teachers and administrators in preschool, childcare, or elementary school settings; naturalists, environmental educators, or outdoor educators; wilderness survival enthusiasts; and parents.

MEET YOUR PRESENTER

Laurie Syphard serves as a guide for the Seedlings Caregiver + Child Nature Series and leads a monthly intergenerational Elderflowers program for seniors at a retirement community with families from Notchcliff Nature Programs.

In addition to working at ERAFANS, Laurie is an experienced curriculum writer, specializing in developing K-12 science courses and content creation. She has an undergraduate degree in environmental studies and a graduate degree in earth science education. Laurie has worked for various non-profit organizations over the years and has implemented a number of environmental education programs in various schools and at summer camps. She loves to share her passion for the environment with children of all ages.

In her spare time, Laurie enjoys spending time with her family, hiking with her dog,  playing tennis, and traveling. One of her favorite traditions is attending annual summer family camp with her mom and children.
