Join fellow book lovers in reading, discussing, and celebrating some of our favorite books! Book topics include nature play and nature-based education, natural history, and children’s books/activity guides. Each month we’ll dive into a featured book, have lively dialogue about it, and meet guest authors and illustrators along the way. We will touch on implications each selection has in nature-based teaching and parenting. Cozy up with a great book and join us!

HOW DOES THE BOOK CLUB WORK?

Every other month, the Nature Book Club will highlight a different nature-based book. You can borrow the book from your local library or purchase it, depending on your preference. Our course facilitator will offer reflection questions and ideas during live, online sessions.  We welcome you to participate as much or as little as you like, but more ideas and voices contributing to the conversation can create wonderful opportunities for learning and connection.

WHAT DOES THE SCHEDULE LOOK LIKE?

Nature Book Club meets every other month from 7-8 pm EST from Mon., October 16, 2022 through Mon., June 10.  The schedule for the monthly live sessions rotates as follows:

Mon. October 16
Mon., December 11
Mon., February 12, 2024 - Naturally Inclusive: Engaging Children of All Abilities Outdoors by Dr. Ruth Wilson
Mon., April 8 - Promoting Reggio-Inspired Approaches in All Schools, K-12 by Mara Krechevsky

Mon., June 10 - The Tristan Gooley Collection: How to Read Nature, How to Read Water, and The Natural Navigator

Each session alternates between these two formats:

Featured Book Discussion (Oct., Feb., June)
We will discuss the selected book, share ideas, and explore concepts from the book.

Nature Book Share (Dec., April)
Bring your favorite children's and adult titles to share!
